Den 24:e upplagan av Hamburg International Short Film Festival - en av de absolut viktigaste i Europa - avslutades igår, den 9 juni, och då stod det klart att Dockpojken av Johannes Nyholm vunnit två priser.

Dels vann filmen huvudpriset, International Competition Jury Award, prissumma 3 000 euro, dels International Competition Audience Award vilket gav ytterligare 1 500 euro.

Juryns motivering:

”A disturbing and comic reflection on obsession and self-loathing that delivers an unsettling experience for the viewer. What at first appears to be an interview with a reclusive animator develops into a mirthless sequence of humiliations and an exploration of the human condition in the spirit of Gogol. In an inventive and brilliant way the film shifts between fiction and documentary, claymation and live action, evoking feelings of both repulsion and compassion in the viewer. Brilliant.”

Johannes Nyholm, Dockpojkens skapare säger i en kommentar:

- Dockpojken skrapade hem storkovan och försvann i en limo efter prisutdelningen. Jag har varken sett röken av honom eller prispengarna sedan dess.

Johannes Nyholm är född 1974 i Umeå, uppväxt i Lund och numera verksam i Göteborg. Novellfilmen Dockpojken fick ett hedersomnämnande på Göteborgs filmfestival tidigare i år. En kortare version, Sagan om den lille dockpojken, visades på Cannes filmfestival i sektionen Directors’ Fortnight. Onsdagen den 30 juli kl 21.30 visas Dockpojken på SVT2.

De sista sakerna av Levan Akin vann Mo-Award (1 250 euro) i barnfilmssektionen Mo & Friese Children’s Short Film Festival, som också äger rum inom ramen för Hamburg International Short Film Festival. Filmen var var öppningskortfilm och tävlade om Startsladden på Göteborgs filmfestival i år.

Juryns motivering:

”The winning film touched us deeply. Even before getting to know the title the film creates a suspenseful, mysterious and depressing atmosphere. With its very first pictures the film plays with the audience’s expectations and delivers a suprising turning point. Our favourite is a very well done short film which is artistically and emotionally convincing in dealing with loss, death, guilt, and mourning. The most important factors for our decision are the wonderful and talented actors and the intense pictures. The plot deals with the development of Hugo, the main character, who is tortured by feelings of guilt. When returning to the lake where his brother died he learns how to fight those feelings. This trip indicates the impressive highlight of the film when reality and fiction are being mixed up. The story is exciting, visionary and intense and we would love to see more of it!”

Levan Akin är född 1979 och har bland annat arbetat med Roy Andersson och som biträdande regissör på tv- och filmproduktioner för SF och SVT.
