Janssen Herr was born in 1977 in Hobart Tasmania - the stunningly picturesque island at the bottom of Australia. Growing up in and around the rugged beautiful wilderness of Tasmania left a profound impression on Janssen and his artistic eye. His holds a bachelors degree in Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania where he graduated in 2001.
He started off in making super 8 films that mixed live action and animation techniques. He won several film festivals at this time for his Super8 work. Since then Janssen has been making films across genres and styles. His talents have been sought out by Independent producers and directors. He has been a freelance videographer, and filmmaker for the last 4 years.
