Komedi Deckare Drama

Trots att författaren Charlie Kaufman blev Oscarsnominerad för sitt debutmanus till succén "I huvudet på John Malkovich", känner han sig osäker både som yrkesmänniska och i det privata. Just nu brottas Charlie med ett nytt komplicerat uppdrag, nämligen att försöka bearbeta Orkidétjuven, en hyllad faktabok av New Yorker journalisten Susan Orlean om den fanatiske och bisarre orkidéodlaren John Laroche i Floridas träskmarker. Situationen förbättras definitivt inte av att Charlies bekymmerslöse tvillingbror Donald en dag flyttar in i huset med avsikt att också börja skriva på ett filmmanus.
